We are an interdisciplinary network of over 100 scholars conducting world-leading and high impact research on global migration and mobility.

Our approach is informed by a broad understanding of migration encompassing motives for migration, impacts on sending and destination countries, as well as the broad range of effects (legal, social, economic and political) and experiences of migration in various geographical regions.
The MRG is directed by Professor Majella Kilkey and Dr Aneta Piekut, who work closely with a cross-faculty steering group to organise events, facilitate knowledge exchange and conduct innovative research within the University of Sheffield and beyond.
We are an institutional member of IMISCOE, Europe’s largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration. We welcome migration scholars to join our network. If you would like to discuss your ideas for collaboration, please contact us: migrationresearch@sheffield.ac.uk
