Migration and Mobility: Views from Past and Present student-led interdisciplinary workshop to take place 20th November

On Wednesday 20th November a cross-faculty workshop on ‘Migration and Mobility: Views from Past and Present’ will take place at the University of Sheffield. The event is open to PhD and Postgraduate students as well as early career researchers. It follows the success of the cross-faculty workshop ‘Conceptions of migration’ earlier this year, which led to the formation of an interdisciplinary PhD committee who have organised this event with the aim of bringing together young researchers working on migration and mobility related topics. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss these issues across disciplinary boundaries, thereby exploring if and how we can understand migration differently.

Presentations will be 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A and an interactive discussion by all participants of the key issues and questions raised by the papers in each session. The format will enable speakers to receive extensive feedback on their work.

The organising committee invite all Masters, PhD and early career researchers with an interest in debates relating to migration and mobility to submit an abstract by 2nd October. Please see the Call For Abstracts below.

If you would like to submit an abstract, find out more about the event, or get in touch with the organising committee, please send an email to migrationresearch@sheffield.ac.uk.
